DEEPAK THAPA

Deepak Thapa is a book editor with Himal
Books, Kathmandu, and also looks after the Social Science Baha
in his capacity as director. He has worked as a journalist for,
among others, Himal South Asia and Nepali Times. Recently, he
has been specialising on the Maoist movement in Nepal that began
in 1996. He has co-authored (with Bandita Sijapati) A Kingdom
under Siege: Nepal's Maoist Insurgency, 1996-2003 The Printhouse,
2003) and edited Understanding the Maoist Movement of Nepal
(Martin Chautari, 2003).

For the Media South Asia Project Deepak
Thapa prepared a Country Profile of the Media in Nepal and conducted
interviews and surveys on responses to satellite television
in Nepal
